We were in Holmes Chapel this week visiting friends and heading to a soft play so we made a short detour to check out The Little Cow Shed!
The Little Cow Shed is owned by the Dale farming family in the Cheshire countryside and opens up to the public daily. They offer gently pasteurised, unhomogenised, whole milk produced by cows that roam just three fields away! You can use a takeout cup or fill your reusable glass bottle to take home.
Whilst milk is on offer there is also milkshake in a range of delicious flavours, with a stunning view of the pasture beyond. There’s a range of sweet treats and their milk also is used to make our artisan ice cream and is a vital ingredient in the best coffee in the area!
We have had a bit of a saga with dairy as our oldest had a cows milk and protein allergy and we’ve spent the last two and half years working our way slowly up the milk ladder. If you are an allergy parent too then I have huge respect for you! We’d finally worked our way all the way to the top of the ladder (after lots of sets back- it has been far from easy) and were excited to mark the occasion.
On Sundays the Hot Stuff counter serves hot breakfast baps with locally sourced ingredients. Milkshakes for the children, coffee for the grown up and bacon sandwiches for all sounds like the perfect morning. What’s more, is Brereton Heath Nature reserve is just opposite which is perfect for a walk with all the family.
