I always thought shortbread would be really hard to make – but this recipe is quick and easy and the shortbread biscuits were yummy!
Shortbread Stars Ingredients
(Makes about 16 small biscuits)
- 125g butter
- 55g sugar (plus some extra to finish)
- 180g plain flour
How To Make Shortbread Stars
We rubbed the butter into the flour with fingers and then added the sugar. We then popped it all into a mixer and mixed until the ingredients were all combined and it held together.
Ideally you would put the mix into the fridge to chill for 30 mins – but my kids were impatient so we rolled our straight out (if it gets too warm you’ll need to chill it). Roll it out on a floured worktop to about a 1cm thickness.
Cut out star shapes (or any shape you like) with a cookie cutter and put on a silicone baking sheet or greased baking tray. Sprinkle a little sugar on top of each cookie.
Bake for about 15 mins at 190C until the edges or the shortbread are just starting to turn golden but the tops of the biscuits are still pale. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
Enjoy!
