What can you do with kids in central Reading on a rainy day? Try Reading Museum! Located in the Town Hall, Reading Museum is walking distance from the train station and close to the main shopping streets. It’s got several floors of interesting family-friendly rooms to explore and best of all, it’s free!
Things to do
Pick up one of the explorer bags on the way in (free to borrow) and have fun rummaging through to find items like binoculars, magnifying glasses, picture bingo and activity cards. There are lots of interesting rooms to explore. On the ground floor, look for the Box Room with microscopes and interesting specimens. There is a hippo skull as well as displays of items that have been found in local gardens. On the first floor, there are loads of biological and geological specimens including stuffed birds, animals and skeletons to look at.
