Rainbow Junk Frame

What do you do with all the plastic tat that you accumulate from party bags and Christmas crackers? Here’s a really fun little project which uses up the junk to create a kitsch picture frame. The hot melt glue is brilliant as the items stick instantly and don’t slide around – however be careful as the glue gets very hot!

You will need:

  • Small toys/ colourful junk / colourful beads or buttons
  • Old picture frame (or try making your own from corrugated cardboard)
  • Hot melt glue gun

How to make the rainbow junk frame:

  • Sort out the plastic junk into rainbow colours.  We made a pile of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink and black.
  • Using a hot melt glue gun, stick the junk around the frame in colour segments.  We found it best to stick on the biggest item in a colour first and then fit the smaller items around it and fill in any small gaps with buttons or beads.
