PLAY at Lower Drayton Farm

Wow! PLAY at Lower Drayton Farm has got to be the biggest childrens play farm I’ve been too. There is so much to play on at Lower Drayton Farm. With plenty to do and see inside and out, this place is fantastic when the good old British weather has one of those days when it’s sunny one minute and raining the next.

The playbarn houses a massive playframe with a large wavey racer slide, drop slide, astro football pitch, worm hole slide, a glass walkway and just a million things to run and climb on. It was almost impossible to get my girls out to look at other things on the farm and we ended up going back to this part three times during the day.

Inside this barn is also a role play village and a smaller play area for younger children. I would say the farm is great for all ages of children. Plenty to do for both toddlers while having lots for older children too. My 8 and 11 year old loved it.

The cafe is next to the playframe with a large menu and counter filled with yummy looking cakes, icecreams and lunch box building for the kids. There was a constant queue over lunch time but at other times it was easy to get just a drink or ice cream. The cafe boasts that it serves its homegrown vegetables and meat from animals on the farm. Can’t get fresher than that.

There is plenty of seating all around the farm. For the cafe there is lots of tables to sit and eat or to watch your child playing. Equally there is lots of outside tables to eat your picnic at including an inside picnic barn that even had ride on tracker to play on. Literally there are toys everywhere on this farm!

Outside there is a whole selection of fun things to play on including

  • Racing zipwires
  • Sand & water play (bring own bucket and spades)
  • Large covered Bouncing Pillow
  • Covered Sandpit
  • Covered Inflatables
  • Swings & Slides in the Woodland playarea
  • Go-karts
  • NEW Water wars game
  • Grass Football Pitch
  • Wooden Toboggans

Outside there is also lots more traditional farm animals to see. Owls, pigs, goats, sheep, llama and Donkeys. To get a full tour of the farm hop on board the Tractor ride at Drayton Station, which takes you to see the cows and the further fields.

Another barn full of fun is the Adventure Barn. In here you will find the scary dropslides, a theatre where you can watch a themed show during the farms special events and a craft station.

During the day there are “Meet & Greets” with some of the animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, Donkeys and Ponies. We went to the reptile talk, which was an interesting 40min show. One man talked all about the animals while a lady came round the audience with the insect and reptiles to have a up close look at and even a stroke. A highlight for both girls was when they got to have a snake draped around their shoulders and a bearded dragon on their chest for some photos.

Ticket prices vary, depending when you go. They host special events during school holidays which are dearer but worth the extra. Mid week termtime is the cheapest option if you have pre school age children. Tickets range between £12.50 -£17 per person. (2023)

It’s definitely a full day of fun, we got there for 10am when it opened and there was still plenty we hadn’t done when we left at 4pm.
