LK Ballet Studios runs dance classes every Tuesday during term time at the Pyramid Arts Centre, Warrington.
Pre School Classes
Tiny Toes
Tiny Toes is for 2–3-year-olds. The class introduces children to broad movement concepts in a fun way, by exploring different themes and encouraging creativity.
Tiny Tutus
Tiny Tutus is for 3–4-year-olds. The class introduces children to some of the fundamental principles of ballet whilst still encouraging creativity. National dancing is also introduced as a contrast to ballet and for fun and social interaction.
To prepare them for the syllabus classes, students have the opportunity to study for IDTA (International Dance Teachers’ Association) Ballet and National Rosettes.
Children’s syllabus classes
Ballet classes
Our Ballet classes, open to children aged 5 years and over, follow The Legat Foundation Syllabus of Russian Classical Ballet.
The Legat Foundation of Russian Classical Ballet (Est 1995) follows the principles laid down by Nicolai Legat, a Russian who brought the Imperial System over to England. In 1930 he opened his own ballet school in London which became a mecca for dancers all over the world.
“The Legat class is a choreographic class created anew each day. There are no set exercises, every exercise may be varied by the sequence of steps or a variation of rhythm” (Gregory,2004,9).
Following such a system of training, allows for creativity, diversity and encourages the thinking dancer.
Children’s National Classes
Our National Classes, open to children aged 5 years and over, follow the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) syllabus, covering English and European social based dances.
Dancing in pairs and groups, the classes offer the children a wonderful opportunity to connect and have fun with their classmates. National dance also offers both a contrast and supportive style to Ballet classes.
Adult Ballet Classes
Suitable for those with little or prior experience, the classes address and develop technique, artistry and musicality through barre and centre work exercises and repertoire.
Examinations, performance opportunities and beginners to intermediate level pointe work are also optional.
