We were on holiday last year this this was our first experience of the bale maze in all it’s glory. Going to High Lodge Farm is kind of like having a farmer friend who invites you over. It’s simple, down to earth and kids can just be kids. It’s exactly how it looks – a huge big bale maze with different leveles, routes and tunnels. What I loved is that my kids just ran off, made friends and raced around. Lots of games going on – hide & seek, tig, sardines – just wholesome fun without screens. There are big board games set up, too. We stayed until the end of the day and the only struggle which all the parents seemed to be having was getting kids to leave. High Lodge Farm will transform their field into a giant pop-up straw maze playground.  Children of all ages can let off steam on the carefully constructed straw towers, pyramids, fortress, maze and even our bale pirate ship. Under 5s will have their own mini bale play too.

@redkitedays Ad – I started my half term adventures early with my first experience of @Giffords Circus and it was way more than I was expecting. The circus performers were amazing and my son was absolutely mesmerised, you’ll get a flavour from my reel. We loved the dash of slap stick comedy, audience participation and magic too. The theme for this tour is Avalon and this is where Giffords take their circus to a whole new level. It’s like stepping into a theatre with all the drama, costumes and opulent set and circus acts woven through. Lots of gasps, lots of clapping and my son gave me a running commentry in my ear! The live band with vocals were fantastic with percussion, drums, saxaphone, flute, guitar and more. They really built the atmosphere and you could feel the excitement and wonder from the audience. Do you know that feeling at the end of a really theatre production when there’s a rising finale and the audience are totally connected? Right at the moment just when we thought it was over, the performers waved the audience down to the circus ring and we ended with everyone together having a crazy little dance.
