Dunham Massey Sunflower Field Review
The huge Cheshire sunflower field is situated at Dunham Massey Ice Cream Farm. The Sunflowers are a wonderful sight, but above all the field is providing the perfect habitat for an abundance of insects, pollinators and other species.
I always love a Sunflower Maze, especially the one at Dunham Massey Ice Cream farm, as it is such a nice place to visit for an hour or two.
We managed to visit when there was a break in the weather on a rainy day. Ready for a muddy path my daughter and I put on our wellies ready for a good slip n slide. However, the path was actually fine as the owners had spent time putting down straw on the paths. It worked perfectly.
To go in the maze, adults cost £4 each, and children cost £3 each, including a scavenger hunt. There are animals hiding in the maze that you have find and tick off on your sheet of paper. It’s such a simple idea but always fun and adds to just walking around the maze.
Dunham Massey have also put some fun and colourful photo opportunity boards up so you can get some great photos and memories of your visit too. If you would like to pick a sunflower from a different part of the field, it £2 a head.
My daughter was extra excited to find a couple of hidden scarecrows. One made her jump as she walked round the corner!
With free parking and a fabulous cafe selling gorgeous Cheshire ice cream in the cafe, hot food and drinks in a great place to visit.
There is indoor and outdoor seating, including a beautifully decorated tipi tent at the back of the cafe. Here, you will also find some goats. You can buy gift food for just 50p in the cafe.
By planting the Sunflowers, the farm have created a habitat like no other! The unsung heroes of Farming – bees, butterflies, insects and other pollinators – have made themselves at home on this nectar rich field. If you’re quiet, you may be able to hear the buzzing of busy bees.
