We killed a couple of hours there this morning, doing a mainly flat walk to see the views from the Edge itself across the Cheshire countryside, and then a stroll back through the woods.
On the main path into the Edge to your left, there is a small wooden okay area carved out of logs – lots of balancing skills required, along with wellies as it’s very muddy in places!
If you search carefully, there is a rope swing or two in the woods and a spooky tunnel that has been dug into one of the rock faces! The pathways are clearly marked and there are lots of options that are good for buggies.
We rewarded ourselves for our walk at the Wizard Tea Rooms. They are open, serving sweet treats and hot drinks from a hatch. Three toasted teacakes (that were delicious!), lemon drizzle cake, and a takeout tea for me for under £12. We sat and ate on picnic benches just over the pathway from the tea rooms. The kids ran around whilst other families had picnics. It was all very relaxed with virtually no stress!!
The car park costs £4 for 3 hours or is free for NT members. Get there early on a fine weekend to avoid the crowds.
If you have time for a longer walk, then you can walk to Hare Hill from the Tea Rooms, however the National Trust site at Hare Hill is still closed, so there are no facilities there to use. You’d need to take your own drinks and food, and walk there and back.
