Stockport Viaduct Play Park

We have been looking forward to sharing our recent adventure to the brand new Stockport Viaduct Park – it’s a real gem! If you’re in Stockport anyway with the kids, this place is definitely worth checking out.

First off, let’s talk about how easy it is to get there. We decided to ditch the car and take the train, which was a great choice as parking can be expensive in the centre. Stockport Viaduct Park is super accessible by public transport. The train station is just a short walk away, and there are plenty of buses that drop you off in the depot underneath. It was so convenient – no fussing with parking or traffic, just hop off the train and you’re pretty much there!

Now, onto the park itself. Despite the overcast weather, we had an absolute blast. The park is spacious and beautifully designed, with the impressive viaduct as a stunning backdrop. It wasn’t crowded at all when we visited – just us and one other family, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Perfect for a laid-back family day out.

The play equipment at Stockport Viaduct Park is a little different too and aimed at older children. My little girl was in heaven, darting from one play area to the next. The electronic beep test game was the best!

It’s like a high-tech version of the classic beep test we used to do in school, but way more fun. The kids (and us adults) loved it. You have to run back and forth between pillars- It was such a great way to burn off some energy. My little girl was giggling and running around and so was I. We were all laughing and cheering each other on. It was definitely the highlight of our visit.

After we’d exhausted ourselves with the beep game, we took a little breather on one of the many benches scattered around the park. It’s such a lovely space to just sit and relax. Even with the grey skies, the park felt bright and cheerful. The landscaping is really well done, with lots of greenery and open spaces for picnics.

All in all, Stockport Viaduct Park gets a big thumbs up from us. It’s easy to get to, has loads of fun equipment, and even on an overcast day, it’s a fantastic spot for some family fun. The electronic beep test game was the cherry on top – tiring but so much fun! So, if you’re looking for a new place to take the kids and in Stockport anyway (i wouldn’t go especially for the park) , definitely give this park a go. You won’t be disappointed!
