Little Play Town Heywood

My girls absolutely love a good role play centre, and Little Play Town Heywood was such a treat. I’ve found role play centres to be brilliant when you have children of different ages. Mine are 1 and 4, and there’s something both of them can enjoy. Soft play areas often have separate under 3 sections, which makes things tricky when I’m on my own with them. But a place like this works perfectly for us.

We were kindly invited to visit, and although it was a bit of a drive, it was definitely worth the trip. The girls had an absolute blast from start to finish. Each session runs for 90 minutes, and they limit the number of visitors so it never feels overcrowded. That made it so much easier to relax and let the girls play freely.

The centre is bright, clean, and full of charm. Each area is set up to look like a little version of real life places that children know. It’s a no shoes space, so make sure to bring socks. We started in the supermarket, where the girls grabbed their trolleys and baskets and began filling them up. They loved taking turns at the till, pretending to scan the groceries. The shelves were really well stocked with play food and items.

Next, we explored the construction area. The girls enjoyed building with large bricks and wearing the builder hats. The outdoor-themed BBQ and camping zone was a big hit too. They pretended to roast marshmallows and make s’mores around a pretend campfire.

We also had fun visiting the doctor’s surgery, opticians, post office, and police station. I had a great time playing the police officer, but the girls managed to escape from “jail” pretty quickly.

Each play area includes little outfits and accessories, which helps the children really get into character. Upstairs, there is a racetrack with a variety of ride-on toys including trikes, bikes, tractors and even a horse. While the girls zoomed around, I had a moment to sit and enjoy a coffee from the on-site café. They also offer a small lunch menu with sandwiches and light bites.

Upstairs, the fun continued with a cosy reading corner, a vet clinic which was perfect for my animal-loving girls, and a lovely theatre stage where we all took turns putting on performances. Just next to the stage is a pretend beauty salon, and I even got a hairstyle and a makeover from my little stylists.

Pricing is really reasonable too. Children are £7.95 each, and each child ticket includes one free adult. Extra adults are £3.50, which also applies to children aged 12 or over. Non-walkers go free but must be accompanied by a paying child or adult. (May 2025) If you’re a registered childminder, you can contact them for a discount code.

If you’re driving, there are four free car parks just behind the venue on Longford Street. They’re easily accessed by the one-way road off the roundabout near Morrisons, so parking is simple and convenient. They were so close, I didn’t need to bother taking the pram to get from the car park to the role play centre

We had such a lovely time at Little Play Town Heywood. Every part of the space was thoughtful and well designed, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

If you’re in the area, Queen’s Park in Heywood is not far and has a great playground.
