Incredible Shaving Foam Stretchy Slime

This very messy activity makes a range of amazing sensory materials out of just a few ingredients which will keep kids busy all day. We started making a magical moldable foam, added coloured liquid to make a slippery goo then added more cornflour to make an elastic slime. After a few hours, the slime dried to create a springy putty which was stretchy but moldable.

How to Make Shaving Foam Slime

  • Sprinkle cornflour into the bottom of a shallow container. Squeeze on some shaving foam and get stuck in with your hands. The shaving foam feels slippery and fluffy.

  • Put a few spoonfuls of cornflour into some squeezy bottles. Add a little water and a capful of food colouring into each bottle until you have a thick coloured liquid. Let kids squirt the coloured liquids over the foamy mixture and play again with spoons or hands. It’s a fun way to look at colour mixing.

  • Add plain flour until you have a thick stretchy slime. Have fun lifting it and watching it slide.  It’s slippery and stretchy to start and then it gets very sticky.  It’s also fun to swirl with a lollipop or popsicle stick.

  • Leave the mixture for a few hours until it dries to form a moldable putty. Ours was like an incredible elastic play dough which would stretch and slide but could be rolled and molded.
