What You Need

  • Sturdy cardboard box
  • Variety of long cardboard tubes (e.g. wrapping paper tubes, poster tubes, aluminium foil centre tubes etc)
  • Glue or tape
  • Scissors
  • Decoration items – e.g. paint, patterned self adhesive film, stickers etc.

How to make a racing car cardboard tube track

  • Decorate your base box if you want to. We covered ours with some metal effect sticky back plastic.

  • Decorate your tubes in a variety of ways. We used paint, stickers and patterned sticky back plastic.

  • Cut slots in your base box, the same widths as your cardboard tubes. Fold the flap of each slot down. You will stick your tube onto the flap. For shorter tubes, you might need to cut your slots quite deep into the box so that there won’t be too big a drop for the toy cars when they roll out of the tube.

  • Glue a cardboard tube onto each flap and/or tape on. The cardboard tube should slope down from the base box with the end not to far from the floor.
