If you have a young child who loves painting and drawing, look no further than Bojangles Creative Cafe! This gem of a place is situated in Little Chalfont, near Amersham, and is a long-time favourite with local residents.
It’s exactly the sort of place that I’d been looking forward to taking my then 2 year old to while I was on maternity leave with my second. However, lockdown struck and we never got around to visiting. A whole 2 years later (can you believe it!) I decided it was time to try it out. I have to be honest, I was a bit apprehensive about taking an 18 month old to a ceramic painting cafe, just imagining shelves of plates crashing down around me, but I needn’t have worried.
The cafe was quiet when we arrived, and we were all greeted by the friendly staff who asked it was out first visit, and took us around to show us what to do.
We were given a nice big table, shown where the painting supplies and aprons were and then assured that we could pick what we wanted to paint, order our food and drinks and pay for everything at the end.
My four year old dutifully sat and painted her piece of choice, and the toddler had a good go too! There are wipe clean tablecloths, plenty of brushes and choices of paint and lots of space on the table.
And, a great bonus if you’re bringing under 5s, there’s a small soft play area right by the tables where we were sitting too. You’re free to just come and use the cafe and soft play if your children are too young/not interested in painting, and for a small area, my two spent about an hour playing here (in between drink and snack stops of course)!
On the topic of snacks, Bojangles has an amazing array of cakes to choose from, all homemade by the owner, along with other wrapped options such as crisps and biscuits. You can even take a selection of cake slices and brownies home if you can’t choose there and then! They also serve hot and cold drinks, including the all-important babycinno.
If you do choose to paint an item, these will be fired and ready for you to collect after a week. We’re looking forward to getting our finished creations back (and maybe taking some more cake home too)!
